about

In the somewhat distant summer of 2014 we composed the tracks that became the Adret album. For some forgotten reason we didn’t move forward with the album. Nevertheless, it was held in a safe where we keep precious things.
And there it remained until now.
In this present, that is also the future for these themes, we are making it available to those who want to listen.
“Adret” is a word that leads us to an idea of a hillside facing the sun. Hence we started the album with a line that separates the sunlit zone from the shadowed one, but still bathed in light. We want to suspend time in that moment. However, that is an impossibility. The line descends too quickly, the hillside is too steep… and we are pushed inside. That platonic shadow that forces us to some kind of metaphoric cave where we find ourselves. A shadow that overshadows the present: the shadow of solitude. This new solitude in which we are surrounded by screens and feel happy like this, with nothing else. We heard about that with curiosity and from a distance: on the other side of the world, the young hikikomori in Japan.
Is it possible that this shadowed zone that shapes our present has turned us all into involuntary hikikomori? Lighthouses… perpetual immobility?
Here’s “Adret”, seven years after it was composed, because now it makes sense. It’s an album that may have been somewhat premonitory. We didn’t know that at the time but now it’s clear: “Adret” means that the line separating light from shadow on the hillside has been crossed. We are now on the other side, out of the light. Maybe, unconsciously, that’s the reason why we kept it.
Now, all that’s left is to listen and understand.
